When it comes to the world of Facebook it can sometimes leave you scratching your head as to why one post has performed better than another. We’ve come up with some simple guidelines to follow when posting on your business page.
Experiment Your Posting Times
The easiest thing you can do to make sure your posts are exposed to the largest possible organic reach is posting at peak Facebook audience times. Research has shown that Facebook audiences are at their highest on Sunday nights from 7.30pm. You can view your Facebook viewers based on timeframes in your Facebook page’s Insights. Experiment with mornings, afternoons and nights and with a bit of trial and error you will be able to distinguish your most engaging post times.
Image-based Posts
Make sure all of your posts include an image, graphic or link to a page on your website. Image-based posts have been proven to be 39% more engaging than those posts without an image. Not only are they more engaging but good quality images attract the eye of followers scrolling through their feed.
Mix Up Your Posts
Don’t always post the same format posts over and over. Look to mix up your Facebook page by posting photos, videos, blogs from your website or general news in your business industry.
Tag Your Product Brands
If your business stocks name brands, ensure you are tagging their Facebook page in your posts. E.g. If you sell Nike or adidas products, tag their official brand pages in your post. This will help highlight to your followers that you are affiliated with known brands. If you stock brands of other small businesses it is also a great way of promoting their name and in turn have them tagging your page.
Ask Questions
In the text of your posts try asking your followers an open-ended question to prompt some engagement. Try asking questions that prompt some competition between followers. E.g. if your in the fitness industry try giving your followers a challenge and have them comment their personal bests – “How many sit ups can you do in 2 minutes?”
If you follow these basic tips then you will be able to increase your engagement and add some consistency to your posting. Remember Facebook posting is about quality not quantity.
